چکیده

Methods 17 pCD patients with granulomas were genotyped for CD-associated mutations or polymorphisms in NOD2 and autophagy-related genes ATG1 and ATG16L1. Granulomas were found in intestinal biopsies of 22 out of 83 endoscopic and 9 out of 12 surgical procedures. Of each procedure we selected one biopsy per organ to study the cellular composition and cytokine profile of granulomas. We stained 43 paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed pCD biopsies with hematoxylin&eosin and monoclonal antibodies targeting leukocyte markers (HLA-DR, CD68, CD4, CD8, CD20, IL23R) and cytokines (TNFa, IFNg, IL6, IL10, IL17, TGFb) (Figure 1) Morphology and immunohistochemistry were scored semi-quantitatively.

Genital Involvement In Pre-Pubertal Pediatric Population: A Rare Aspect of Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), characterized by chronic intestinal inflammation that causes the loss of immune tolerance leading to bizarre inflammatory signals and disruption of mucosal barriers. Environmental triggers and interaction of genetic determinants also play an indispensible role. In this case report, we present a pre-pubertal girl with intermittent and refra...

Histopathologic Study of Rosacea and the Role of Demodex Folliculorum

Background and Objective: Rosacea is a common and ill-defined disease and Demodex folliculorum has been reported in rosacea in a number of clinical studies. Since demodex mite is present in many healthy individuals, the mite may have a pathogenic role only when it is present in high densities. Therefore,...

Oral manifestations as the first presenting sign of Crohn’s disease in a pediatric patient

Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Although the GI tract is the primary site of involvement, many patients, particularly in pediatric cases, first present with non-intestinal manifestations, including oral lesions. Oral manifestations of CD in children occur in around 50-80% of cases, and about 30% of CD cases in children occur fir...

Isolated cutaneous Crohn’s disease: A case report

This case report describes a patient with cutaneous signs in the genital and peri-anal region suspicious of Crohn’s disease without any intestinal symptom or sign. Inflammatory bowel disease can be associated with some cutaneous signs. However, in this paper, we report a patient with isolated cutaneous Crohn’s disease which is very rare (less than 100 case reports across the world). Our patient...

Probable association between hidradenitis suppurativa and Crohn's disease: significance of epithelioid granuloma.

Hidradenitis suppurativa affects apocrine gland-bearing areas of skin and may produce perianal lesions clinically indistinguishable from the cutaneous manifestations of Crohn’s disease1, suggesting an association between the two diseases1–3. A recent histological study3 of hidradenitis suppurativa described epithelioid granulomas in 10 per cent of cases. Some of these patients had systemic gran...
